Armistice 2018

These photographs of shop window displays in Hartley Wintney, the War Memorial and the display of handmade poppies cascading over the roof of St Mary’s Church, Winchfield portray the overwhelming feeling of pride and gratitude in remembering the sacrifice of the fallen on the 100 years anniversary of the end of World War One.

Sincere thanks to John Sage

50 YEARS AGO - A sketch of our village when Elizabeth came to the throne

Written by Barbara Broadway, the Society's current President.

Published by the Hartley Wintney Preservation Society

The eight page sketch was published in May 2002 for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebration year.

Work is in progress (September 2016) to include several contemporary photographs and advertisements of the period.  If any members have photographs of the 1950s, especially any family photos of Coronation Celebrations in 1953, please let us know.  If any local people have any memories of the Coronation these would be much appreciated.
