Nearly 100 members attended the Autumn Meeting held on 11th October to hear Nick Macfarlane, Countryside and Maintenance Ranger and Volunteer Co-ordinator for Hart District Council, give an excellent presentation on World War II History focussing on local Pillboxes, specifically the one opposite the Phoenix Inn and also REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) activities on Hazeley Heath.

Nick is also endeavouring to trace the family of a Canadian Soldier who was stationed around Hartfordbridge and whose monogram can be seen on the bridge.  At the meeting a member said he would ask his father who served alongside the Canadian Batallion and we await further information.
